With streaming audio, network connectivity is a must. But, many streaming devices are Ethernet only. So, how do you get a connection if running an Ethernet cable is just not feasible?
This is where a wireless network access point comes in very handy. There are plenty of options available from different manufacturers. The TP-Link brand seems to be quite popular including the TP-Link TL-WA901ND Wireless N450 3TER Access Point (pictured). There are smaller options as well such as the TP-Link TL-WR802N Wireless N300 Travel Router. While we're not endorsing any particular model, the three omni-directional antennas of this TP-Link would seem to make sense for providing better, and more stable, connectivity.
So, don't be discouraged by products from Hegel, Bel Canto and more that only offer streaming via an Ethernet connection. There are options available. While we still prefer a wired Ethernet connection if possible, it's not the only solution. Various audio enthusiasts successfully employ the use of a wireless access point in these exact scenarios.
After configuration, utilize a high quality Ethernet cable such as the ones we carry from Wireworld to connect the wireless access point to the Ethernet connection on your streaming audio component and you're set!
