The Milk Carton Kids have been a staple on the folk/Americana scene since their 2011 album. If you’re looking for a beautiful but quiet way to start or finish your listening day, this melancholy album could be exactly what you want. In addition to what is mostly two acoustic guitars and great harmonies, this album is also blessed with great sonics. The second track, “My Place Among the Stones” features a single vocal with center focus. The next track “A Friend Like You” adds more with extra instrumentation and both vocalists to add harmonies into the mix. This album won’t test system dynamics or have room shaking bass, but it is folk music done well with recording quality to match. Find it on Qobuz and Tidal.
