Jeremy Olivier - Where the light gets in
If you’re in the mood for a pure and intimate recording, this could be right up your alley. This album is a very stripped-down affair with Jeremy Olivier on vocal / guitar and Mike del Ferro on piano. Jeremy Olivier is a known name and has previously collaborated with Hugh Masekela, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, George Benson and more. Mike del Ferro accompanies perfectly to suit the mood of this album that covers a variety of both originals and covers. If you’re at all familiar with the Sound Liaison label, superb recording quality is a given. The recording does an excellent job of capturing the live "you are there" studio sound with spaciousness, delicacy and airiness. Recorded in DXD, this album is available from Sound Liaison in formats ranging from 24/96 FLAC and DSD64 right up to 32/352 DXD and DSD256. After purchasing this album, Roon shows it in the library at a dynamic range of 11 which is fantastic for a simple recording like this.  Find it on Sound Liaison.

Colin James - Open Road

Quite possibly the best Canadian blues album of 2021. Colin James continually cranks out one great album after another. With a combination of original songs and covers, this album just hits so well. There are certain songs and guitar licks that are reminiscent of his absolutely stellar “Bad Habits” from 1995. Listen to it on TIDAL or buy it from 7 Digital Canada. If you’re buying from 7 Digital, you might as well buy his 2018 album “Miles to Go” as well. Spectacular!

Graham Dechter – Major Influence
Guitarist Graham Dechter joined the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra at the age of 19 and since then has had a rising career appearing with the likes of Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Cole and more. On “Major Influence” he wrote and arranged all of the songs except one. With a dream team of Clayton on bass, Hamilton on drums and Hendelman on piano, this is a straight-ahead jazz album led by guitar with a highly accomplished supporting cast. Highly recommended! Find it on Tidal.
