Wow, what a stunning combo with the
MoFi SourcePoint 10
speakers and the
Bel Canto C6i
integrated! This pairing truly punches far above its price and is an incredibly easy recommendation. Room filling with full meaty bass, yet incredibly detailed while remaining smooth and extremely refined.
The MoFi SourcePoint 10 speakers are big speakers. There’s no way around that. But, the size buys you a 10” concentric driver in a speaker with outstanding bass and excellent coherency that has high sensitivity and is very easy to drive. That’s where the Bel Canto C6i comes in. The Bel Canto is all about quality versus huge wattage. The Bel Canto can easily play the SourcePoint 10 to high volume levels with great control while being compact, lightweight and elegant. In this case, for the amp, bigger is not better. The SourcePoint 10 are revealing and will definitely show the difference between the quality of the signal fed to them. That’s where the Bel Canto shines! The preamp and power sections are first-class with incredibly low noise floor and the built-in DAC is exceptional. The SourcePoint 10’s top end is not shy, but it never stands out in a bad way at all as it is very smooth. The Bel Canto signature leans towards being slightly warmer and laidback. So, the tonal balance, at least for us, is ideal. The end result is big speaker sound with uncanny precision and sophistication.
The Bel Canto C6i includes a remarkable DAC with USB, coaxial and toslink inputs. Feed a digital signal to the Bel Canto with the streamer of your choice (such as those by
Bel Canto Stream2
) and you’re set for a very simple high-quality digital system. The Bel Canto C6i also features a built-in phono stage if you have a MM or high-output MC cartridge. However, if you want to use your own phono preamp or have another analogue source, it also has a standard line level input. Note: The Bel Canto is an absolute dream to use with some of the best ergonomics in an audio product and a volume control that easily allows you to dial in the proper level.
Also, don’t forget good quality stands. This is a substantial speaker and needs a proper stand to sound its best. The stand made by Skylan Stands for the SourcePoint 10 is ideal and can be purchased at the same time as the SourcePoint 10. It’s the best stand we’ve seen for these speakers.
